From 23 to 27 November 2015, a workshop on the use of information systems for environmental protection was held at TICANALYSE's premises. Organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Directorate General for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (DGPEDD), the workshop was taught by UNEP representatives, a representative of the Regional Centre for the Basel and Stockholm Conventions for French-speaking African countries (CRCBS), and a representative of the NGO GREEN CROSS.
The workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralisation and Security; the Ministry of the Economy and Finance; the Ministry of the Environment and Fisheries Resources; the Ministry of Mines and Energy; and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, Sanitation and Food Security. They are the network's focal points.
As a technical partner, TICANALYSE was asked to provide technical support and experience in the field of technology in order to achieve the workshop's objective.
The workshop achieved the following results:
-
Ownership of data collection strategies and access to and exchange of information;
-
The training of twelve (12) network administrators, who will facilitate the transfer of information on environmentally sound techniques and also document the site of the national network for the exchange of information on chemical products;
-
A roadmap with recommendations for strengthening the legal and institutional framework and the effectiveness of the REIC in Burkina Faso.
This work led to the launch of the REIC-Burkina Faso website ESTIS. The workshop was launched by the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment and Fisheries, who also took part in the closing ceremony.
